Meet our Superheroes
Here you'll find all of our hardworking volunteers who help keep the rescue running. These wonderful humans help save little lives in many different ways and they are all essential members of our team. Some volunteer at the rescue to love on and clean up after the kitties, some foster in their homes, a few transport babies, help with answering messages, arrange fundraisers... the list goes on and on. We couldn't do this without them and they are superheroes to us!

My journey with ANCR began in September 2023, shortly after moving into our new home in Shelbyville. When a pregnant stray cat appeared on our doorstep, I stepped in to care for her and eventually placed her kittens in loving homes. That experience opened my eyes to just how much need there is — and how much impact one person can make. I shortly found ANCR and asked how I can help. Since then, I’ve been involved in scooping litter boxes, feeding the cutest faces, getting intake off the streets, transport, foster coordination… you name it. Every role has deepened my commitment and widened my perspective. Being part of a team that saves lives every single day is something I’m profoundly grateful for. I love what this team does and the work we pour into it — all in hopes of changing the world one feline life at a time.

I started volunteering with the rescue in February of 2024. I was looking for a way to help my community, and came across a post from ANCR asking for volunteers. As a "Dog Person," I figured rescuing cats would be a good way to help, without pulling too hard on my heartstrings. It worked until I met Mama Butter. I have come to learn that people who claim they don't like cats, just haven't met the right cat yet. Saving these most vulnerable members of our community has become a passion, and I am excited to help ANCR do good for our community for years to come.
